Appendix 9.2 Using JMP for Simple Linear Regression

To produce the scatter plot of cubic feet and labor hours and the simple linear regression analysis to predict labor hours based on cubic feet, open the MOVING.JMP data table. Select Analyze → Fit Y by X. Then, do the following:

1. In the Report: Fit Y by X—Contextual dialog box (see Figure A9.7), enter Hours in the Y, Response edit box and Feet in the X, Factor edit box. Click the OK button.
