PROBABILITY

INTRODUCTION

Probability is widely used in many business and sports contexts and decision makers need to be comfortable with probability (Groebner et al., 2005: 128). Probability is used every time we perform an inferential statistical test. The ‘p’ values that we see in quantitative research papers are probabilities. Therefore, the purpose of this chapter is to explain what probability is, how probabilities can be determined and the use of probability in research studies.
