Thomas spoke next, and as one of the biggest contributors on the team, this was the perfect word for him to share. “Okay, so our word is Inclusion.”

“Inclusion is important for each player to feel like they are a part of the team. A big part of inclusion is the good feeling you get when you contribute to the team and are recognized and valued for who you are and the contribution you've made. When you feel like you are helping to build the future of the team, you feel more connected to the team and the team's outcomes.”

“Rennie and I talked about it, and to put this into practice we need to show up and contribute something of value to the team no matter how we're feeling that day. But we also need to make sure our teammates feel that their contributions are valued by demonstrating appreciation and gratitude. When our teammates are feeling down, we need to encourage them and highlight how their contributions matter. Then they will feel inspired to continue to give of themselves to the greater good of the team.”
