Chapter 10: Props
Suitable props are essential for successful stock photographers. Appropriate props can turn a model into a doctor, road worker, business man or architect in seconds, but unsuitable props can make the model look out of place.
10.1 What Are Good Props?
The best props for stock photography are items that clearly represent what you want to show on the photo.
For example, if a worker is holding a long metal file, this may well be authentic and convincing, but it is very hard to see. The longish item on a small photo could just as well be a dagger, a ruler or something else. A big hammer, on the other hand, is much more easily recognized as such and would be the better choice for representing a craftsman.
