Chapter 27: Insurance and Associations
If you as photographer want to make a living from stock photography and not just earn a bit extra by uploading a few photos after your regular job, you won’t get around nasty things like insurance, associations and the like. What’s out there and what’s in it for the photographer? Hold your horses, let’s tackle these matters one step at a time.

There is a quote by the German journalist Wolfram Weidner: “An insurance is a kind of lottery where you only win if you have bad luck”. Still, it’s a good idea for self-employed photographers to at least get the most necessary types of insurance as they don’t have a big company backing them that can take care of insurance matters.
