ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Steven Heller is the cochair of MFA Design (Designer

as Author + Entrepreneur) at the School of Visual Arts

in New York and the cofounder of MFA Design Criticism,

MFA Interaction Design, MPS Branding, and MFA

Products of Design. He is the “Visuals” columnist of the

New York Times Book Review, the “Graphic Content”

columnist for New York Times T-Style, and he writes a

column for the Atlantic Magazine’s “Life” section. He is

the author or editor of more than 135 books, contributor

to Eye, Print, and Baseline, and writes The Daily Heller

blog. He is the recipient of the 1999 AIGA Medal for

Lifetime Achievement and the 2011 National Design

Award “Design Mind.”

Mirko Ilic is founder of Mirko Ilic Corp. in New York

City. He has received medals from Society of Illustrators,

Society of Publication Designers, Art Directors Club, I.D.

magazine, and Society of Newspaper Design. Ilic is

coauthor of The Anatomy of Design with Steven Heller

and coauthor of The Design of Dissent with Milton Glaser.
