Chapter 10. Using VMDirectPath I/O
One of the least-known features introduced in vSphere 4.x that continues to be available in vSphere 5 and 6 is VMDirectPath I/O. This chapter explains what it is, shows how it works, and provides some practical design implementations. vSphere 6 also supports Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV), which offers performance benefits similar to those of VMDirectPath I/O.
