History of Storage

Historically, the concept of storage goes as far back as the Ancient Egyptians (my ancestors) who built silos to protect grains away from moisture and to store them for use when a famine hit. The well-known example of that is the story of Joseph when he oversaw the rationing and storage of grains as well as kept records of the stored amounts. This has evolved over the generations and nations to where we are now as we store data instead of dates (palm dates, that is)! Enough Ancient Egyptian history for now; let’s get down to the wire or, in other words, the bits of computer storage history!
