Success Is a Decision

The ideal result from a visual story is that the audience, whether one person or many, makes a decision. But people often procrastinate on making the call to go forward. If there is no obvious reason to make an immediate decision, they may put it off and consider that they're keeping their options open. The work done in the Content section of the CAST process identified many reasons to make a decision. The weight of evidence is not usually the key factor to swing a decision. Often having too many data points will serve to confuse or lead to a request for further analysis to gain clarity.

Top lawyers don't recap all the evidence in a case when summing up; they focus on a few key messages to close the decision. The delivery plan you create in the next chapter might use the sense of urgency to set up the story and to close it.
