Tricks of the Trade

As in every industry, there are tricks that the pros use to help them get their work done quickly and with quality. Everyone works differently and with different tools, so some of these tips won’t pertain to you. Make use of the tricks that work within your style and with what you have available to you.

Quick Drawing

  • Tracing reference photos. Why waste the time it takes to draw a detailed background if you have a photo of that background you can trace over. Tracing your own art. There’s no need to redraw something you’ve already drawn once.
  • Digital copying. You can copy elements from one panel and paste them into another panel within programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter.
