Always “listen” to evaluations from your audiences and take heed. Feedback is a critical tool to help you identify areas where you may need to improve. Whether you’re a newbie or an experienced pro, whether you’re giving a speech or a training session, whether you’re speaking to a dozen people or hundreds, everyone can benefit from constructive input. Use it to improve your skills.

The word evaluation comes from the French word évaluation, which is the noun form of the verb évaluer, meaning “to appraise or value.” How you interpret feedback and respond to it with your actions can weigh heavily on future sessions. After a training session, for example, the trainer may ask participants to rate the value or usefulness of various aspects of the training.
