Technology Basics
Software
The two major types of software are application software and systems software. An application (often called an “App” in the current Apple iPad jargon) is a computer program designed to do a specific set of tasks (e.g., process payroll checks, find a restaurant, pay an invoice, etc.) or support a set of business processes such as providing resumes and job postings for the recruiting processes in the human resources function of a company.
