Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis Techniques
Simple Graphs and Measures
Often the best thing you can do with quantitative data is to simply graph it and examine it visually to see what the data is telling you. We will look at a few of the very basic types of charts and graphs. Figure 7E.1 shows a line chart over time (sometimes called a run chart). Run charts show trends for a process over time. This is useful to see what is happening to sales over time—i.e. are things getting better or worse?12
These types of simple charts can easily be done using Excel software or many other simple tools.
