3 The negative impact of redundancies on the workforce

This chapter is an extension of the previous chapter that discussed the challenge of achieving organisational success by way of redundancies and the overall negative impact on the whole organisation. In this chapter, I highlight the severe negative impact of implementing redundancies on each of the three groups impacted: victims, survivors and redundancy envoys and introduce a new group: semi-survivors. The importance of redundancy envoys in the success of redundancy implementation is also discussed.
