This chapter addresses the various elements of employee/trade union representatives, including the selection of employee representatives, their role and responsibilities, their rights and how to establish a constitution. This chapter highlights the value employee representatives can bring to an organisation and the workforce during the implementation of a redundancy programme. For the purpose of this book, I will refer to trade union representatives and non-trade union representatives as ‘employee representatives’ from here on. This chapter provides helpful template examples for consulting and communicating with employee representatives.
