Part 2: Defining Required Staffing Actions
Since this is a simple one-period model, the next step is to define the staffing actions that you should take to eliminate gaps and surpluses. If this were a real model, however, you would at this point “carry forward” the results of period 1 into period 2 and calculate gaps and surpluses for that period (assuming at this point, of course, that only uncontrollable staffing actions occur). Once gaps and surpluses for period 2 were defined, you would carry your results forward into period 3 (again, considering only uncontrollable staffing actions), then repeat this process until preliminary gaps and surpluses had been calculated for every period.
