Deflection in Beams

CHAPTER OBJECTIVES

In this chapter, we will learn about the slope and deflection produced in beams/cantilevers of uniform/non-uniform section, which is subjected to various types of loadings such as concentrated, uniformly distributed, linearly variable and turning moments. Macaulay’s method of developing deflection and slope equations at any section of the beam will be discussed in details and students will also be able to solve different problems as this method is most versatile.
