Abstract
This chapter focuses on structural acrylic adhesives (SAAs), which belong to second-generation acrylic adhesives. The complex composition of such adhesives is shown, and the role of various SAA components in achieving the target physicochemical, mechanical, and thermal properties of joints based on multicomponent acrylic adhesives is discussed. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of possibilities of using SAAs with borane initiating curing systems for bonding substrates with low surface energy and the effect of the chemical structure of the components used in formulation on the durability and properties of the resulting adhesive. A comparison of the properties of SAAs and other types of reactive adhesives showed that structural acrylic adhesives have a set of properties that are in many ways superior to the known structural epoxy and polyurethane adhesives. The areas of application of these adhesives are briefly discussed.
