I would like to thank Elsevier publishing house for giving me the opportunity to produce this 2^nd edition of my textbook Structural Health Monitoring with Piezoelectric Wafer Active Sensors.

The 1^st edition of this textbook, which came out at the end of 2007, proved to be quite a success: it got hundreds of reference citations¹ and passed the 1,000 mark in sales. I received emails, questions, calls, and comments from all over the world either asking a specific question, or requesting clarifications to certain parts of the book, or wanting to get a copy of the codes (which, by the way, are available at http://www.me.sc.edu/research/lamss/).
