Introduction
Square-cornered boxes are a ubiquitous staple of modern life, so everyday that we barely stop to look at them and never think to praise them.
They are, however, a design classic: they are easily morphed in three dimensions; the nets have little wastage; they can be machine-assembled; they can be stored flat and erected instantly; they tessellate fully in three dimensions for economic transportation, storage and display; they have large, flat areas for printing; and when their useful life has come to an end, they can be recycled.
