Invisible cuts
Continuous camera coverage of an event using a number of cameras relies on a stream of invisible shot changes in the sense that the transition between each shot does not distract the audience. The aim is to make the shot change unobtrusive to prevent the audience’s attention switching from programme content to the programme production technique. Although individual camera operators frame up their own shots, the pictures they produce must fit the context of the programme and match what other camera operators are providing.
