Introduction
Set design and lighting design are two sides of the same coin. While the traditional mode of set design begins with an assessment of program needs (the type of show, the number of talent), lighting design is a somewhat constricted art due to the specific technical requirements needed to create the video image. Both topics are extensive in their own right and entire courses are based on each. The goal of this chapter is to introduce each in a most basic sense and is limited.
