“GENERATIONS” ARE A WAY of imposing categorical boundaries around something that is inherently a linear spectrum (when people were born). Yet, like some other categories of difference, people form ideas around these categories and then develop biases in the way they relate to others. Age/generation is an interesting dimension of identity to consider for SAE because everyone alive today has been younger before, and if people are fortunate enough to live a long, full life, they will also experience being older.
