The bridge model is not just an intellectual construct as part of a general theory on innovation, but it has also been designed to assist the innovator in understanding and managing the innovation process. The stages in the model give structure to the innovation process and make it more transparent. The model makes managing the innovation process simpler and more effective because each stage defines the things that have to be done and identifies the major risks and hurdles that could block or hamper the success of the project.
