Learning the Multinational Way
At 9am on 5 September 1985 my career started. It was clearly not my first day’s work as I had been working most of my life at my father’s shop. But this was something new. I had only worked for small companies before. Unilever was my first experience of a large organization. And as first impressions of the world of work go, it was pretty good. In fact, I loved it.
I joined the Unilever Companies Management Development Scheme (UCMDS), starting at Lever Brothers, the detergent and cleaning company. It was like being part of a fantastic family.
