ERP systems are structured around the idea of modules. Not every organization needs every feature that ERP vendors offer. Furthermore, even if they could use a particular feature, some aspects of organizational operations are easier to support with software than are others. For instance, almost every organization needs financial and accounting support. Conversely, R&D management is not something that every organization gets involved with. This is reflected by much lower adoption rates for that module.
