In 1994, for the first edition of Sun Performance and Tuning, there were a few obscure FTP sites where PostScript copies of white papers could be found. In 1998, for the second edition, the Internet probably contains too much information! The information you want is very likely to be available on a web site, but if you search for a keyword such as “performance,” you will be overwhelmed with thousands of search hits.

Sun’s main web site at www.sun.com contains a lot of useful information, including performance briefs for all the current products and detailed data sheets for SPARC CPUs.
