Server Platform Options
Although symmetrical cluster nodes (servers with the same hardware configuration) are easier to manage, the SC2.2 software enables the use of asymmetric cluster nodes. For example, a Sun Enterprise 10000 server domain can fail over to a Sun Enterprise 6500 server.

Binary compatibility of software applications is guaranteed on all current Sun Microsystems server platforms.
In this section, the term server platform refers to the set that comprises the following components:
System Cage
A metal structure that includes a main system board and backplane (or centerplane). The system cage also contains the power supply, power cord(s), and cooling fan(s).
