Interviews RegardingFuture NPL Sites

 

To estimate the cost of sites added to the National Priorities List (NPL) in the future, RFF conducted two sets of interviews. We interviewed superfund program managers in 9 states and the Superfund division directors in all 10 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regional offices. The interviews had five main objectives:

• to identify, if possible, the specific sites the states and EPA regions expect to list on the NPL from FY 2000 through FY 2009;
• to gather information on the factors that affect NPL listing, the type of sites likely to be listed, the likelihood that future NPL sites will be expensive, and the likelihood that future NPL sites will have more or fewer Fund-lead remedial ...
