16.1 INTRODUCTION TO DISTRIBUTION
Logistics and the supply chain are concerned with the physical movement of products and information flow and storage of raw material to the final distribution of the finished product.
Thus, supply and materials management represents the storage and flows into and through the production process, while distribution represents the storage and flows from the final production point through to the customer or end user.
Major emphasis is now placed on the importance of information as well as physical flows and storage, and an additional and very relevant factor is that of reverse logistics.
