So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Hierarchical supply chain planning and scheduling frameworks can address an extremely broad range of planning and management activities ranging from scheduling a single plant to planning and scheduling operations over an entire global supply chain. Further, one can apply a hierarchical planning approach to any supply chain function ranging from procurement to transportation to inventory management. In this chapter, we introduce hierarchical planning by first reviewing a general rationale for this type of planning framework.
