8 Writing Items
8.1 Overview
This chapter presents a description of types of items in general use in surveys that allow us to capture the information we want. First, we provide examples of some of the many different types of items, review issues in writing items, give examples of resources we might use in finding existing items, and conclude with tips for writing items and sources of more information.
