People who have prejudices are generally motivated by fear because they have had negative encounters with a few people and have generalized their experience with those people to include an entire race, class, or gender. They can be stubborn, bitter, and thoroughly indoctrinated by antiquated and hateful belief systems, usually through their parents, religious and political organizations, and social and peer groups. Education, patience, friendliness, and firm boundaries are the best tools to use with this group of people.
