Chapter 10

Strategies and Critical Paths to Sustainability

Arriving at great strategies for sustainable infrastructure requires both the use and understanding of those methods used by industry to make decisions and the use of advanced comparative economic analyses. Good levelized cost methods are available to compare the cost of alternatives; these methods need to be more widely used and the critical comparison of paths to sustainability need to be considered. In addition, better methods of economic analysis need to be developed and applied. All this is possible and can be of great benefit.
