Chapter 5 CO2 footprint: assessment, calculation, reduction
It is worthwhile to notice that the CO2 footprint – which is to be reported in the context of GHG emissions and used as basis for the mitigation and, to some degree, also adaptation of climate change – is by far the best-documented KPI/footprint in this context: Its measurement is known as the relationship between the CO2 footprint and climate change and is well understood.
However, strictly speaking, the other KPIs are also footprints in their own right, describing relevant effects of a companies´ activities. In that context it needs to be pointed out that the metrics to be applied and, to some degree even definition, are significantly more vague for some of them.
