Despite the trend towards low-emission products, which also require a reduced amount of materials, the status of green developments within companies is often unclear. Green development assessment indicators have often issued detailed green development guidelines and made them available to the public and to stake holders. Hence, these parties have a natural interest in gaining a deepened understanding on the respective status of companies under view. Reporting is an important tool to foster communication between governments, the public, companies and stakeholders, and to assess and provide guidance on progress towards green development.
