This chapter is devoted to the most important colony-based optimization algorithms: Ant colony optimization (ACO) and Artificial Bee Colony (ABC). The standard Ant colony optimization (ACO) is presented and some important ant-based algorithms are explained such as: Ant System, Ant Colony System, Rank-based Ant System, Max-min Ant System and Population-based ACO. Then the standard Artificial Bee Algorithm is presented by explaining also the bee colony foraging behavior.
