Swimming Lesson #8Waterlogged: My Story
As one of only two Short Film Programmers of the Tribeca Film Festival, when people discover what I “do” for a living, it is usually followed by the question, “How many do you watch?” When I answer, “Oh, usually 1500,” I notice a visceral and physical response on the part of the questioner. A slightly raised eyebrow, a step backward with hands upheld, or a blatant jaw drop. This is almost always followed by the question, “How do you do it?”
I answer this question a number of different ways, depending on my mood:
I’m a machine/alien.
I have no life.
The fast forward button.
