NAL Logging

NAL logging shows network connection processing as the server runs. When enabled, it adds entries to any server-side log that has to negotiate a network connection, such as the Distribution Manager. NAL logging produces a sizeable amount of error messages in the logs that may be misleading; the system is trying to work through all the different connectivity options and determine the best one—so the “errors” are not necessarily indicative of fatal issues.

To turn on NAL logging with all verbosity levels for the client, make the following registry changes. You may need to add the Logging subkey.

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NAL\Logging\Verbosity(DWORD)value=00000007

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NAL\Logging\Log To(DWORD)value=00000003
