OSD Starter Scripts
Chapter 19, “Operating System Deployment,” provides a thorough discussion of implementing and using OSD. Here are Visual Basic scripts that could be useful:
• CompName.vbs: Automatically generates a computer name based on the system’s vendor, serial number, and chassis type, and then sets the OSDComputer task sequence variable
• DumpVariables.vbs: Dumps all task sequences variables
• GenAppList.vbs: Creates a series of task sequence variables for use with the multiple install functionality of the Install Package task
• GetProcs.vbs: Sets a task sequence variable to the number of processors in the system
• Pause.vbs: Pauses the task sequence until the file go.txt is created on the X: drive
