Creating Detection Methods

To this point, this chapter has discussed simple detection methods. Now it is time to dive a little deeper to understand the importance of a proper detection method, as well as how to create complex detection methods.

The purpose of a detection method is to determine if the software is installed. A detection method is not used to determine if ConfigMgr installed the application—only to determine if it is installed. Software can be installed and uninstalled in non-standard ways.
