System Restarts and Restart Notifications
Restart notifications are valuable if you suppress restarts in required update deployments or the user chooses not to immediately restart the system after manually installing updates. Delaying or suppressing restarts ensures that users are not adversely disrupted by the restart. However, many updates require restarts to become effective so displaying a “nag” notification helps ensure that the system is eventually restarted. Three basic criteria must be met for ConfigMgr to display a restart notification and icon:
• Deployment notification is enabled for the client.
• User notification is not set to Hide in Software Center and all notifications.
• Installed update requires a reboot.
