Distribution Points (DPs)
DPs have always been a vital component in any ConfigMgr infrastructure; with each release, service pack, and cumulative update, they become more efficient, consistent, and resilient. Following is a brief review of improvements to DPs since ConfigMgr 2012 RTM (release to manufacturing, the original release).
Cloud-Based Distribution Point
Beginning with SP 1, you can create a cloud DP in Windows Azure for your ConfigMgr infrastructure. Cloud-based DPs support both intranet and Internet-based clients, and automatically enable BranchCache on the DP to help you reduce content transfer from your cloud-based DP.
