Chapter 2. Exploring Data with the Tableau Desktop Interface

Tableau’s exam outline indicates that over 65% of the material is about creating content and exploring and analyzing data. As a result, when I prepare for the exam, this is where I spend most of my time. I will use this chapter to ensure that you are equally comfortable with exploring data and utilizing key features of the software interface.

Building data visualizations in Tableau Desktop is as much an art as it is a science. It takes time and practice to become familiar with how to build and manipulate visualizations, apply filters and sorts, and quickly find data exploration tools within the interface.
