Calculations

Introduction

This chapter will take you through the different types of calculated fields that can be created in Tableau Desktop. This includes aggregations, fixed levels of detail calculations, numeric calculations, string calculations, date logic, Boolean logic, and table calculations. We can use calculations to analyze, filter, and even format our data. For example, we can create a calculated field that allows the user to highlight specific points in the data where color can be added to emphasize those points. Calculated fields are part of Domain 2: Explore and Analyse Data, which contributes to 46% of the exam, so it is imperative for the candidate to understand this section to the fullest extent.
