Bar charts

Bar charts are one of the easiest tools for making quick comparisons across categorical data. Bar charts compare data on a linear scale and quickly make it easy to compare data points across dimensions. Tableau has three types of bar chart variants available in the Show Me menu:

  • Horizontal bar charts
  • Stacked bar charts
  • Side-by-side bar charts

Simple bar charts are the best kind of charts to use whenever questions are asked about the largest or smallest values, what dimension values are in the top or bottom five, and so on.
