Non-IP Tactical Radios and the Move toward IP
In the first part of this book, we reviewed some basic theoretical concepts of tactical wireless communications and networking. The second part of this book will focus on legacy non-IP radios; introducing the seamless IP concept; some of the important aspects of IP-based tactical radios; software defined radios (SDRs); and cognitive radios.
This chapter reviews some legacy non-IP tactical radios and addresses the issues and concerns arising from the integration of legacy, non-IP, radios with IP-based network core services.
