Chapter . Set Up Your Base Station and Local Network

Let’s assume you’ve now purchased a base station (or you already own one and have skipped to this part) and are geared up to go. This and the next two sections will take you to a working, Internet-connected Wi-Fi network.

Start with setting up your base station and your local network in this section; move to connecting to the Internet in the next; and finally, learn how to connect your Mac OS X and Windows XP SP2 computers to the Wi-Fi network you created.

Tip

Although you must connect one base station to your Internet connection with Ethernet or phone cable, you can connect other AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express Base Stations wirelessly back to that main base station—see Bridge Wirelessly
