Mute Over-Active Mail Message Threads
Whether it’s fantasy football season or new cat videos are going around, sometimes group email threads can overload you with notifications. To silence a thread in Mail, select it and click the Mute 
button on the toolbar, or Control-click the thread in the message list and choose Mute from the contextual menu (Figure 15).
