Learn What’s New in El Capitan and iOS 9 Mail

The El Capitan and iOS 9 versions of Mail contain useful new features and design changes. Skim over this chapter to see which of these changes may be important to you.

Mail Changes in El Capitan

The El Capitan version of Mail looks almost identical to its OS X 10.10 Yosemite predecessor at first glance, but it’s much different underneath. Here are the major changes I think you should be aware of:

  • Gesture support: Using a trackpad, you can now swipe across items in your message list with two, three, or four fingers to navigate, mark as read/unread, delete, or archive. See Gestures.
